We are dedicated to optimizing your health in a natural and holistic way.
Dr. Zhen Hui Zhong, D.Ac., aka Dr. “James” Zhong, uses Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and draws upon his over 35 years of medical experience to help you live your best life. He is one of a few practitioners in Hawaii who graduated from a TCM medical school in China. The goal of his personalized treatments are to relieve pain, restore, heal and balance.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a means to restore balance and health by tapping into our body's own energy. It stimulates specific points along your body's meridians (energetic pathways) using fine needles to bring about an equilibrium. This promotes the circulation of blood, fluids and the flow of your body’s natural energy (or qi), bringing out healing in the most natural way possible.

Chinese Herbs
Herbal Medicine is most often used in conjunction with acupuncture treatments. Chinese herbal medicine can be used to treat a number of symptoms at once since they are combined for each individual, based upon particular concerns and patterns in mind.

Given under the supervision of Dr. Zhong, Chinese herbal medicine has a great record of being safe with few, if any, side-effects. It is meant to correct an imbalance and then to be discontinued or adjusted.
Health Optimization
The Zhong Wellness Center seeks whole-body wellness and health optimization for our clients.

Utilizing Traditional Chinese Medicine, Dr. Zhong draws from a complete medical system that for over 5,000 years has been used to diagnose, treat, and prevent illness. Physical, emotional and/or lifestyle factors can contribute to imbalance, resulting in illness and pain. Health optimization looks at all aspects of one's life and then outlines a plan to restore the body's natural energy flow.
What to Expect
If you're interested in a whole-body approach to wellness, we welcome you to make an appointment with Dr. Zhong. If you haven't been to seen us before, keep in mind the first appointment is going to be different than what you're used to.
While acupuncture might be new to you, Dr. Zhong will answer your questions and take a good 30-minutes to talk with you first to make sure he understands your background, symptoms, and goals. Only when you're comfortable will the actual acupuncture appointment begin.

Dr. James Zhong
Dr. “James” Zhen Hui Zhong, D.Ac. (pronounced “Jong”) is a fifth-generation medical doctor from China and a U.S. licensed and board-certified acupuncturist. He received his medical degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Canton Medical University in the 1980s. Dr. Zhong founded Zhong Wellness Center in 1993. He has treated celebrities, heads of state, corporate executives, and countless local, national, and international clients.
Dr. Zhong’s training in acupuncture and herbal treatments is unparalleled. He has undergone specialized and intense medical training in China, including working at Zhong Shan Hospital for many years before he moved to the U.S. in 1989. Always a practitioner first with the best interests of his patients in mind, Dr. Zhong was inspired to pursue a career in traditional Chinese medicine at an early age. He became a physical assistant at the age of 16 at Zhong Shan Hospital where his father worked. His early experience with patients, combined with his medical background, is the foundation of his advanced understanding of the body. These skills and his knowledge base lend a unique depth to his approach as a healer and has enabled Dr. Zhong to bring relief to hundreds of clients suffering from a wide variety of ailments and medical conditions.
